So why are they called Moon Snails? ⬇️ . I read this today because I always love a good fun fact about seashells! 🐚 . Moon snails are not called moon snails because of their spiral shape or that the moon effects the tides..... . But they are called Moon Snails BECAUSE ⬇️ . I have been wanting to try moon snails for awhile now and finally saw some at the market by my house! Moon snails are pretty big compared to other snails and they have beautiful shells. I’m not going to lie I was a little bit intimidated at first when I started cooking these.The first step when making moon snails is to soak the snails in cold salty water, this helps remove some of the sand and dirt from inside of the shell. Next I brought water to a boil with peppercorns, garlic, and bay leaves.
