Why do cattle have ear tags? Most importantly it’s so we know who they belong to! Right ear= bull calf. Left ear= heifer calf. Letter= the year the calf was born(initially we match mama, but will switch to the calfs birth year). Number= same as mama, so we know it’s hers.
