Another way of cutting threads on a lathe is with a geometric die head. This uses 4 cutters and opens when the desired thread depth is met. This tool take a a little bit to set up but once it is, you can cut repeatable threads fast and easily. Geometric die heads are a super efficient, old world way to cut repeat threads on the lathe. In this case I need about 1/2” of thread length on the end of 3/8 brass bar. By setting the thread length you can get the same length every time. This is WAY faster than single point threading in my opinion. I normally use @anchorlube for this but I went without it in this clip so it would be clear to see the thread quality. If you’ve got a lathe look into getting one at an auction or on eBay! #machinist
