Our lawyer says that this is not uncommon. During the online application process you can upload additional evidence to show that you have been in the UK for 5 years. Did you not know your child was eligible to the EU Settlement Scheme? Many EU citizens assume their children are British just because they were born in the UK. This isn't always the case - and if they are EU citizens they could be eligible to the EU Settlement Scheme. The deadline to apply was 30 June.
