May 13, 2022 · No, sadly I just had time for this very short walk! Did not plan my itinerary well and only had time for a day trip over from El Calafate, after a 3 hour bus over and an early bus back could only squeeze this hike in. Nevertheless it was one of the best days and a beautiful place. Really hope to come back! Yes!

Aug 9, 2022 · While Calafate is a larger town, it has few activities overall outside of the glacier. Whereas El Chalten has exceptional hiking opportunities that can easily fill multiple days, weeks, months... El Chalten is charming, and there are a number of hotels, b&bs, and rental cottages.

Jan 20, 2024 · Hi ultralight community. I am an avid day hiker, skier, and a hobbyist photographer. I am going to a wedding in Buenos Aires in March and my friend who is a bit more of an adventurer wants to do Huemul Circuit that's 41.5 mile loop near El Chalten.

If you are coming from El Calafate, make sure you stock up on groceries before heading to El Chalten. The supermarkets (more like mini supermarkets) in El Chalten are very overpriced and there’s not much variety of items. Make sure you prioritise Laguna de Los Tres if you have good weather. This is probably the best day hike from El Chalten.

Also looked at going down to Torres del Paine, but there only seemed to be one hotel open and it sounded like the park would be open but few facilities running and trekking would be really hard or ...

Jul 11, 2022 · Unfortunately, I will only have time to visit either Bariloche or El Chalten. I have done a ton of research for both and I am really stuck. The views are gorgeous for both, it would be a dream to hike in El Chalten but I would also enjoy driving around, hiking and eating good food in Bariloche - seems like there’s more to do there.

Day 1 - Arrive in Argentina (Buenos Aires > El Calafate). Stay overnight in El Calafate. Day 2 - Go to Los Glaciers National Park to the Perito Moreno Glacier (Im doing a day tour). Stay overnight in El Calafate. Day 3 - Bus from El Calafate to El Chalten. Explore to Chorillo del Salto Falls. Stay overnight in El Chalten.

Just recently came back from el calafate (April 2023). Hired a manual car from hertz el calafate airport, crossed the border to torres del paine / puerto natales and came back. All in all a good experience and would recommend. They ask you to send details 72 hours prior for cross border permit which costs around 120 usd.

Dec 27, 2023 · Movistar then was having some touristic pack which was 4$ for 40gb as far as I remember and in Argentina it was also cheap but don’t remember how much exactly. And in PN you won’t probably buy SIM card and for sure you won’t buy it in El chalten and el calafate
