Yelp’s advertising model is controversial, to say the least. If business owners don’t fork over money for ads, Yelp allegedly hides positive reviews and showcases negative ones, essentially holding business reputations hostage. This practice is incredibly unfair and detrimental to both business owners and workers.

My ex uses Yelp to stalk me. I’m Yelp elite and have been checking in and posting photos for a while. I read that blocking them doesn’t prevent them from finding you and continuing to stalk you. Is there any way I can actually block him? He is crazy and will not stop stalking me even though this ended last year.

Jan 15, 2022 · Yelp may have some quality reviews, but its no where close enough to save them from the repercussions of their mob-like tactics and the end is near for yelp. Google is a much more effective and proven successful even if you dont pay them a penny.

Apple maps doesn't show yelp reviews anymore so there's little chance that anyone is seeing yelp reviews. Google Maps has taken over the space for reviews. Anyone using Yelp for finding businesses is going to find a lot of old stale incorrect information. Personally I don't care what Yelp reviewers say about my business good or bad.

Yelp gave me the same excuse about their algorithm determining they were “fake reviews.” Keep in mind that several who left those Yelp reviews have been interviewed for local newspapers and architectural magazines about the design process and their experience with my client.

Also, if I use the Yelp *app* from e.g. an iPad from my original IP address, it works. We *only* use Yelp to *read* reviews. We don't post reviews, comments, etc. I've read that Yelp might block some fake reviewers and such.

However I’m in mortgages currently, never sold advertising before. Any advice or tips would be awesome. Also is the company culture really as good as it seems?

Aug 19, 2022 · No, you can review any location. Becoming Elite is less dependent on where you reviewed but more on the quality of reviews and other contributions to Yelp. If you become Yelp Elite you will just have to set an area you want to receive emails about. But there is no commitment to one particular area for a certain amount of time.
