J.J. Spaun's win at the U.S. Open was one of the best sports moments of the year. It was also full of teaching moments.

Sunday at Oakmont was chaotic, challenging, maddening and entertaining. It was all you could ask for in a U.S. Open.

U.S. Open champion was among many who couldn’t tame Oakmont, shooting back-to-back 74s to finish 8-over to miss the cut.

Famed Oakmont bared its teeth on the back nine at the U.S. Open. Tyrrell Hatton, Carlos Ortiz and Viktor Hovland were part of a large group of players who found themselves in the mix during the final round.

JJ Spaun entered extremely rare territory with his epic finish to win the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club on Sunday evening.

When the second round ends, Burns will be the ninth player since 2000 to hold a one-shot lead after 36 holes at the U.S. Open. Only two of the previous eight went on to win — Angel Cabrera and Dustin Johnson, both here at Oakmont.
