The San Jose Sharks have assigned forward Igor Chernyshov to the San Jose Barracuda, it was announced Friday. Chernyshov, who was drafted by the Sharks in the second round of the 2024 NHL Draft, has yet to play a game this season due to offseason shoulder surgery.

Just when the year had a promising start, the San Jose Sharks are now facing a rush of injuries. As the Sharks made their way to Utah, a few faces were missing and a few more were making the trip on a questionable status.

The Sharks are averaging 2.60 goals per game so far this season, an improvement over the 2.20 goals they averaged through 82 games last season. Nevertheless, the Sharks and general manager Mike Grier figure to have tens of millions in salary cap space this offseason to try and make upgrades at various positions.
