Crystal Palace has won the Community Shield by beating Premier League champion Liverpool in a penalty shootout at Wembley Stadium.

LONDON – FA Cup winners Crystal Palace beat Premier League champions Liverpool 3-2 on penalties to win the Community Shield after an entertaining 2-2 draw at Wembley on Sunday. Substitute Justin Devenny scored the winning spot kick to give Palace the spoils, after Mohamed Salah, Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott missed for the Reds.

New Liverpool signings Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike are both in line to start against Crystal Palace in the Community Shield. Liverpool have been boosted by the fitness of Virgil van Dijk, who has returned to training following illness and will captain the Reds at Wembley.
