On Monday, Starbucks announced that—after almost seven years—it was rolling back its open-door policy. It’s a reversal of a change made in 2018 after two black men were arrested simply for being in the store.

Starbucks has ended its open-door policy, which allowed anyone, not just a customer, to use its spaces without buying anything.

After decades during which people who did not buy items at Starbucks Corp. (NASDAQ: SBUX) could use its stores to meet or as a means to gather with friends won’t be able to do that anymore. The huge coffee chain will make these people buy items or leave.
