Australia has launched its largest military exercises with Philippine forces, involving over 3,600 personnel in live-fire drills and a beach assault near the South China Sea
The Philippine Coast Guard will review how it would operate its aerial drones to document the maritime patrol of its officers and assets, including the intrusion of Chinese ships in the West Philippine Sea.

The United States has deployed two warships to the disputed South China Sea near Scarborough Shoal. This follows a collision between Chinese navy and coast guard ships while they attempted to drive away a smaller Philippine vessel.
According to the Chinese military’s Southern Theatre Command, the USS Higgins entered the waters “without approval of the Chinese government”. It said the move “seriously violated China’s sovereignty and security, severely undermined peace and stability in the South China Sea,” and vowed to maintain a “high alert at all times”.
