As the game races to keep up with Marvel Rivals, the developers announced a slew of new changes coming in 2025 that bring more player choice and a little bit of chaos back into the game.

Loot Boxes are officially coming back to Overwatch, and you won't have to wait long at all to start opening them up.

Blizzard is making some major changes to Overwatch 2 for its Season 15 update, including adding all new gameplay in the form of a perks system and the return of loot box rewards, on top of the new heroes and skins.

Stadium is arguably the biggest change announced for Overwatch 2 so far. The new gameplay mode is a best-of-seven romp between two teams of five that’s akin to CounterStrike: Go or Valorant. You’ll earn currency each round, with rotating maps and objectives alternating between Control, Clash, and Push.

While perks will bring game-changing and strategy-shifting abilities to core Overwatch 2 game modes, there’s also the entirely separate, but similar in theme Stadium mode. This new gameplay mode, which Blizzard says it’s been working on for years, is much more complex, but builds on a similar strategy of shaking up Overwatch 2 gameplay.

Well, now it is. In a 34-minute Overwatch 2 "Spotlight" video that premiered today, Blizzard laid out the next year of Overwatch, which includes the biggest shakeups and additions the FPS has seen since Blizzard slapped a '2' on it. It's safe to say this is a bigger deal than 5v5 ever was.
