Tom Girardi took the stand for his cross-examination Thursday in his long-awaited criminal fraud trial -- despite being diagnosed with late-onset Alzheimer's disease and dementia three years ago.

Cross said Girardi has no short-term memory to speak of. He described Girardi’s mind as “frozen in amber 30 years ago” when he was a successful lawyer residing in a palatial Pasadena mansion.

When the results from the medical evaluation are eventually revealed, Judge Staton will set a sentencing date. The Independent contacted Girardi’s public defender, Samuel Cross, for comment.

Girardi’s estranged actress wife filed for divorce in November 2020 after a 21-year marriage. Following the split, the couple listed their Pasadena home for sale at a price of $13 million.
