Hamas will release Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander from Gaza on Monday, the Palestinian militant group said, but Israel's prime minister said there would be no ceasefire and plans for an intensified military campaign would continue.

Edan Alexander, the last known living American hostage in Gaza, was released by Hamas and reunited with his family on Monday, ending an 18-month ordeal that began with the militant group’s October 7 attack.

The American dual national Edan Alexander has been handed over by Hamas more than 19 months after he was taken hostage.
