Bongino’s selection to serve under Kash Patel places two staunch Trump allies atop the nation’s premier federal law enforcement agency.
Bongino is a former Secret Service agent turned podcaster. Trump said he will serve as the FBI’s deputy director, a role traditionally held by career agents.
The post of deputy director will give Dan Bongino access to vast amounts of highly sensitive intelligence, as well as rumor, speculation and false accusations that F.B.I. agents regularly receive.
