One week after Denver Broncos outside linebacker coach Michael Wilhoite was arrested for allegedly punching​ a Denver police officer at Denver International Airport, the team announced his departure.

The Denver Broncos will need a new outside linebackers coach in 2025. The Broncos have "parted ways" with Michael Wilhoite after he was accused of assaulting a police officer, according to a report from KUSA-TV's Mike Klis.

"After thorough discussions as an organization, I met with Michael Wilhoite and informed him we have decided to part ways," Broncos head coach Sean Payton said in a statement to the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel.

Broncos outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite was fired Wednesday following his arrest last week for allegedly punching a police officer.

"We are on top of it, relative to the local authorities as well as the league office," Sean Payton said following Michael Wilhoite's arrest.

Michael Wilhoite is being considered for a diversion program, but prosecutors need the victim’s permission before moving forward.

The Broncos fired outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite on Wednesday, the team confirmed to The Denver Post. Wilhoite, 38, was accused late last month of punching a police officer in the departures lane at Denver International Airport The officer fell to the ground and Wilhoite returned to his car,
