The jury is expected to hear a half day of witness testimony on Monday. Jurors will be sent home at lunch to facilitate a voir dire hearing for two accident reconstruction experts testifying for Read’s defense.

Following testimony, Judge Beverly Cannone will hold a hearing on defense expert witnesses who found that John O’Keefe’s injuries weren’t consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

Karen Read 's second murder trial is now underway. But this trial is not it for Read's legal troubles. Read, 45, is accused of killing her boyfriend, Braintree native and Boston police officer John O'Keefe outside a Canton home in January 2022. Read's first trial in O'Keefe's death ended in a mistrial in July.
