OAKLAND — A person was arrested Monday on suspicion of shooting up an occupied police vehicle in what authorities say “may” have been an attempt to hurt or kill the officer. The officer was uninjured, but the vehicle was struck multiple times, police said.

Oakland police said the officer soon realized it was his patrol car that was hit by the gunfire. He was not injured. The officer may have been targeted, police said. A suspect was arrested Monday afternoon. Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call them at 510-238-3426.
