TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey’s attorney general said Tuesday chemical manufacturer 3M agreed to pay up $450 million to resolve lawsuits over natural resource contamination stemming from PFAS — commonly referred to as “forever chemicals.”

M will pay New Jersey up to $450 million over the next 25 years, resolving claims regarding widespread contamination from “forever chemicals.”

M will pay the state of New Jersey up to $450 million through the next 25 years to settle claims of PFAS contamination. The Maplewood-based manufacturer sold the “forever chemicals” to the DuPont Chambers Works facility in the Garden State for many years.
