Former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr testifies that "I wouldn't be here today" if he hadn't shot Patrick Lyoya after a long fight.

A Michigan police officer who killed a man with a shot to the back of the head is testifying in his own defense at his second-degree murder trial.

During questioning from the jury, Christopher Schurr was asked why he shot Patrick Lyoya in the back of the head. The former Grand Rapids cop says that the gun was pointed in that direction and that it “ended up striking his head”.
