New York Magazine on MSNMS NOW: Everything Wrong With MSNBC’s New Name and Logo
Morning Joe hosts claim they love it. Everyone else says it sounds like a multiple-sclerosis charity with MS Paint branding.
MSNBC announced on Monday that it will change its name to MS Now, short for My Source News Opinion World, later this year.
MSNBC, perhaps the biggest name in the exodus, will rebrand as My Source News Opinion World, or MS NOW, a move that conflicts with previous claims from NBCUniversal that the network would be allowed to keep its name amid the shift. NBC's iconic peacock logo will no longer be used for the cable-news network, either.
Pete Davidson is reflecting on the time he was in 'trouble' with NBCUniversal over the cancellation of his semi-autobiographical dramedy Bupkis.
Mark Lazarus, who's leading Versant, announced that MSNBC would trade its famous name for a new one: My Source News Opinion World, or MS Now.
MSNBC will change its name to MS Now, for My Source News Opinion World, and unveil a new logo this year as part of the cable news channel’s spinoff from the Comcast-owned media company NBCUniversal. CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin joins Joe Scarborough to break the news.
Cable news channel MSNBC is going to rebrand as My Source News Opinion World, or MS NOW, according to a new report from the New York Times. The change is happening because Comcast’s NBCUniversal is spinning off many of its cable TV assets into a new company called Versant, severing ties with the “NBC” part of MSNBC.
The new name and logo, of course, is part of a larger restructuring plan by parent company Comcast to split off a large portion of its cable assets – which includes MSNBC, CNBC and other networks – from NBCUniversal, which will keep the NBC broadcast network and other media properties.
