President Donald Trump has sent 700 U.S. Marines to deploy to the city to assist police and National Guard in restoring the peace.

Newsom called the deployments reckless and “disrespectful to our troops” in a post on the social platform X.

It was the third day of demonstrations against Trump’s immigration crackdown in the region, as the arrival of around 300 federal troops spurred anger and fear among some residents.
