Kate and William, the Prince and Princess of Wales, confirmed their patronage of the hospital where she had cancer treatment, the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.

Kate, the Princess of Wales, made a poignant return Tuesday to the same hospital where she received treatment after being diagnosed last year with cancer.

The Princess of Wales, who revealed in March that she had been diagnosed with cancer after speculation surrounding her whereabouts, said on Tuesday she is in remission.

The problem is that a complete remission does not mean the cancer is gone. Even when a cancer is “cured” — defined as no evidence of cancer for five years — it may not be vanquished.
