The resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra between India and China marks a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral ties, symbolizing both spiritual unity and diplomatic progress.

The much-awaited Kailash Mansarovar Yatra will commence this summer after a gap of five years. The yatra was stalled after the Chinese government imposed tough conditions for the Indian Pilgrims in 2020 in the wake of tensions between the two countries over border dispute.

It is significant to know that the resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is seen as a big step to improve the bilateral ties between the two countries. The yatra that involves a visit to mount Kailash and Mansarovar lake in Tibet -- has been suspended since the Covid outbreak of 2020.

India and China have announced plans to resume the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage in summer 2025. Plans include starting direct flight services between the two nations, aiming to strengthen their diplomatic relations on the 75th anniversary of their establishment.

According to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the resumption of the Mansarovar Yatra is scheduled for the summer of 2025, with both countries planning to work out the necessary logistical arrangements through existing agreements.

The decisions were announced after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held wide-ranging talks with Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong in Beijing.
