Authorities say both a suspected active shooter and a police officer were killed in a gunfight outside an Emory Point CVS, near the CDC and Emory University campus, on Friday afternoon.

The officer who was injured in the shooting on Emory University's campus in Atlanta is dead, Interim Chief Greg Padrick of DeKalb County Police Department said. He died of his injuries from a gunshot wound, Padrick said.

David Rose, 33, was killed in the line of duty while responding to a call involving a reported gunman near Clifton Road and CDC Parkway on Emory University’s Atlanta campus.
