New Orleans Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis announced today that the club has signed free agent running back Cam Akers to a one-year contract after participating in this week's minicamp on a tryout basis.

Cam Akers stood out from the rest of the New Orleans Saints running backs at Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp. Unlike everybody else, Akers’ name wasn’t on the back of his jersey. All his jersey had on the back was the No. 38.
