Tropical Storm Erin formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Monday, forecasters said. The storm could strengthen to become the Atlantic's first hurricane of the season.

Tropical Storm Erin is forecast to strengthen into a major hurricane in the coming days. While AccuWeather maintains that the storm will curve back out into the Atlantic Ocean, the potential remains for a direct impact on the East Coast.

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Erin is making its way west across the Atlantic Ocean – but with the storm still thousands of miles from the U.S. coast, FOX 13 meteorologists say it's still too soon to pinpoint its eventual path.
