Police in Atlanta say the suspect is dead and there is no ongoing threat after reports of an active shooter near Emory University and the CDC headquarters.

A police officer was killed during a shooting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Atlanta campus at Emory University. Shots were first reported just before 5 p.m. local time near the Emory Point CVS,

Officers responded to reports of an active shooter at a CVS pharmacy on the edge of the CDC’s campus at roughly 4:50 p.m., Atlanta Police Department Chief Darin Schierbaum said at a press conference. There, they found a critically injured officer from DeKalb County. The officer was rushed to the hospital but later died, officials said.
