University of South Carolina students were told to shelter in place Sunday after an unconfirmed report of an active shooter on the main campus.

Iowa State police confirmed Monday morning that 'several' reports of an 'active' shooter on campus for the first day of classes were false.

C hattanooga Police have cleared the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga after a report of an active shooter locked down college and city government buildings for more than an hour Aug. 21.
