You'll be fine. The palace doesn't get too busy, unless there's a number of Outlander coach groups arriving all at once - or you plan on visiting on Jousting Day. What I would say though, …
You'll be fine. The palace doesn't get too busy, unless there's a number of Outlander coach groups arriving all at once - or you plan on visiting on Jousting Day. What I would say though, is a Historic Environment Scotland membership is pretty cheap if you plan on visiting other things (nearby Edinburgh Castle, Blackness Castle, or Doune Castle, for example)
I'm on a road trip, and unfortunately will get to the palace only after closing time. Is it worth a stop just to take some pictures from the outside after it's closed?
