Hilton Head Outfitters has a map of the bike trails. The trails alongside the residential areas are pretty safe. They are wide and there was not much traffic when I was there in December. You can also ride bikes on the beach. The rental firm asks that you not ride in the water, as the saltwater accelerates corrosion.

I have to say I did not see any. I guess she could but be careful. There’s quite a bit of bike traffic. I personally wouldn’t chance it.

We rented bikes last January from Marriott hotel where we were staying. There we lots of other rental bikes on the beach. I am sure you will find some renting. January was the perfect time to visit HH. Bring a sweatshirt and enjoy the beach!
